I grew up in a pleasant, small country side in Taiwan, and Richard grew up in the big, busy capital city of Taiwan.
One of the science experiment that we all had to do in grade four was raising silkworms to observe their life cycles. I used to go to into the woods with my classmates and gather up the fresh leaves from the mulberry trees to fatten up my little warms. While we were gathering the leaves, we would also pick the mulberries and munch on them to enjoy the heavenly sweetness.
I purchased some mulberries from the grocery store yesterday. They were tender and sweet, and they reminded me so much of my childhood days. Richard was also amazed at how sweet they are and while we ere eating the berries I told him about the little stories from my childhood.
He was in awe! Turns out the kids in the big capital city purchased the leaves in bundles from the stores, AND he never realizes the leaves that the silkworms were raise on also came from the trees that mulberries grew on!
